To Find Your Story

• What is the story that is yours to tell?
• Can you write the premise in one sentence?
• Do you have a resolution to your story?
• What is the age of your main character?
• Do you know the language of this character?
• Is the story of interest and appropriate for the audience?
• What is the primary age of your audience?
• In what genre can your story be told?
• Do you have a beginning, a middle, and an end?
• Does the story beginning introduce a character that attracts a reader?
• Does the story middle rise to a level that changes the main character?
• Does the story end resonant with the reader?
• If a picture book, is there space for an illustrator to tell a visual story?
• Does the theme reach across all ages with reflection for all?
• Can you write the jacket flap “about the story?”
• Can you write the jacket flap bio about you and the story?
• What is the story that is yours to tell?
